Week 9
-We have begun our new unit entitled 'Let's Celebrate'.
The transdisciplinary theme is 'Who we are'
The central idea is 'Our traditions and beliefs are part of who we are'
-It's a wonderful unit that lends itself to inquiry and being open-minded.

- We celebrated the beginning of Diwali by making rangoli and cleaning our classroom -as is done in indian homes.
-We are now reading about Mahatma Gandhi's life. This is 'learning for life' and the children are truly interested.....

-Last Friday Ms Jackie wore a poppy on her shirt.....I had just returned from London where they were selling them ......we were studying symbols....Friday at 11:00 o'clock Ms Ottavia played the Last Post on her trumpet...and so Remembrance Day came alive in grade two
-the list goes on...........
-Aden shared that he received 2 presents on Eid. Why?
-Min Woo and Federico measured, cut and divided in even squares the first page of ourgigantic Multicultural Calendar which will be hung in the atrium
-4 truths and a lie to be detected by your partner
-reviewing long vowel spellings by making mobiles
deciding who will be in charge of which words
how long should the ribbons be?
who will measure?
who will cut?

-we made group Tcharts -tradition/routine -
-we have started a cursive club
-Tatiana, Alessia and Eve want to start a -making poetry books- club
-Julie, Sofia Garzelli, Natalia and friends have been making garlands

-and then a little magic with tiny little balls I brought back fom London
